Feeding System Parts
Components that deliver product to the wrapping area at the right pitch and position — where misalignment and spacing problems originate.
Component families
Typical Components
The exact configuration depends on your machine model. Your spare parts documentation — issued per machine — lists the qualified items for your serial number.
| Component | Role in the system | Condition to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Infeed chain & flights / lugs | Carry product at the set pitch | Bent or worn lugs, chain elongation |
| Guide rails & wear strips | Hold product position | Wear grooves, looseness |
| Infeed belts & rollers | Transport product to the wrapping area | Surface glazing, slipping |
| Sprockets & timing elements | Synchronize feeding with machine motion | Tooth wear, backlash |
| Transfer elements (where fitted) | Hand product into the film | Wear marks, position setting |
| Infeed photocells | Detect product presence | Lens cleanliness, alignment |
Condition & Replacement
Condition-based — per your machine manual.
- Guide rails and wear strips show the fault before they fail — grooves and product marks mean position drift is already happening.
- Flights and lugs are checked for bending and wear during the weekly pass.
- Infeed belt surfaces are cleaned daily; glazing that survives cleaning is a replacement signal.
Technical Note
Replacement criteria are defined per machine in your Path Pack documentation. Feeding wear directly produces the symptoms in Product Misalignment and Product Spacing Problems — track those trends when deciding.
Identifying a Feeding Part
Position photos matter most here.
- Machine model and serial number
- Part number, where marked or listed
- Photos of the part installed — feeding elements look similar across positions
